Itinerary 9 days Tour Tangier to Marrakech via Merzouga
Day 1 : Tangier – Chefchaouen – Fes
Our driver will pick you up at the port of Tangier and leave for Chefchaouen, a city founded as a mysterious secret place from which to attack the Portuguese settled on the north coast. Europeans were completely forbidden to enter the village until the arrival of Spanish troops in 1920. Arriving in Chefchaouen and having a first contact with the city, We continue our way towards Fez , Imperial City, which dates back to the eighth century . It is also one of the first sacred cities of Muslim worship in Morocco and is proud to host one of the oldest universities in the world. Free afternoon to relax and have a first contact with the city that will transport you to the past.
Day 2: Fes sightseeing
After breakfast, we will begin our tour of the “Oldest Medina in the World” with an official local tour guide. We will travel through the Medina with its “souks” (markets), stopping at the entrance of the Royal Palace, the Mosque and the Karouine University of the ninth century.We will also visit the tomb of the founder of the city “Moulay Idriss II”. Lunch will take place in one of the traditional restaurants of the old Medina. After lunch, we will continue our visit to visit the Nejjarine Fountain, the former Harem Garden and the Batha Museum. On the way back to the hotel, we will stop to enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
Day 3: Fes – Merzouga
In the morning we will go to the mountains in an area known as Imouzzer, which is covered with cedar, juniper and cork oak forests. The area is well known for having abundant wildlife and we can see many types of birds, wild boar and Barbary monkeys on our picturesque promenade. Then the road will begin to climb into the mountains of the Middle Atlas where we can see the hillsides dotted with tents and herds of nomadic goats of the Berbers who call this rugged region home. After a late lunch in Midelt, we continue along the mountain roads overlooking the Oued Ziz sea. Passing through the kasbahs and palm trees, we cross the adobe city of Er-Rashidia and arrive in the afternoon to Merzouga, a city on the outskirts of the Sahara desert where we will spend the night.
Day 4: Tour around Erg Chebbi by 4×4 – camel ride and night in desert camp
In the morning, we start our journey through the dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will visit a Berber house and listen to Gnawa music from Ghana and Sudan. We will visit some deserted mines, Berber nomads and palm oases. For lunch we will go to Merzouga. After a moment of relaxation, we will go through the camels waiting for us to take us on an adventure in the sand dunes. We will spend the night in a drummed camp in the middle of the Sahara, which is a great opportunity to take beautiful pictures of the sunset and dawn. Arriving at the camp, we climb the high dunes to see the sunset and spend the night in nomadic tents.
Day 5: Merzouga – Ouarzazate
After watching the sunrise, we return to Merzouga. We will have the opportunity to take a shower and have a good breakfast. Then we begin our journey back to Ouarzazate. On our way we visited the Berber villages, the Todra gorges and the Dadès valley.We arrived in Ouarzazate in the afternoon and spent the night in a hotel.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Leaving Ouarzazate in the morning, we will visit Ait Benhaddou Kasbah for a visit to this World Heritage site. This famous 11th century kasbah was the backdrop for more than 20 films, including the famous gladiator. After lunch, we will start our trip back to Marrakech via Tizi-n-Tichka and arrive in Marrakech in the evening.
Day 7: Exploring Marrakech
You will have a guided tour to discover the many facets of Marrakech with a stroll through the maze of the narrow streets of the Medina between its famous souks and a visit to the most beautiful palaces and monuments of Marrakech.
Day 8: Marrakech – Casablanca – Rabat
After breakfast, you will leave Marrakech for our way to Casablanca a few in this first economic capital will visit the Hassan 2 mosque, one of the largest mosques of the Islamic world, then I have content in Rabat, Visit the capital of Morocco, where you can visit the Royal Palace, the mausoleum of Mohammed V, Hassan Tower … hotel night.
